About the DGCA Technical General paper

Technical General is a written paper for the DGCA Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot Licences. It is multiple choice, with a 70 percent pass mark and no negative marking; a subject pass is valid for five years, with a 30-day gap between attempts. It has the broadest syllabus of the ground subjects, which makes chapter-by-chapter practice the practical way to cover it.

The syllabus spans principles of flight, meaning aerofoils, lift and drag, the drag curve, stall and spin, high-lift devices, stability in three axes, controls and adverse yaw, and load factor and the V-n diagram, along with airframes and structures, hydraulics and landing gear, electrics, piston and gas-turbine powerplant, propellers, and flight instruments and their errors.

How to prepare

Cover the syllabus in a sensible order: structures, then aerodynamics and controls, then piston and turbine engines, then systems, then instruments.
